Title:4WD Association- Advantages of Membership Date:22 Oct 2008

Description:

Author:

Greg Redfern President 4WD NSW & ACT Inc.

The Association provides or facilitates:

  • Activities and a structure aimed at two objectives, the representation of Club’s interests at a political, PR, and operational level and, the increase in membership of affiliated Clubs.
  • The Association provides the necessary structure for Clubs, e.g. a constitution, registration documents, establishment guidelines, etc.
  • The provision of a code of conduct which we know is acceptable in the community.
  • A special relationship with key land owners (NPWS in NSW and ACT, Forests, NSW, NSW Department of Lands), vital to the activities of four wheel drivers. It is increasingly a basis on which parks and trails remain open to affiliated Clubs and by which we can be directly involved in interesting volunteer projects.
  • A Regional structure Clubs can be involved in. These Regional structures enable affiliated Clubs to participate in special projects, community events and fund raisers, and an enhanced level of activities by communication with other Clubs. Each Region has a budget which varies from $3000 to $15000 per annum. Regions meet monthly.
  • Special projects or events like Menai, Spanish Steps, Clean up Australia, J9 (a major 4WD Competition) and other 4WD competitions, and community events like Camp Quality (Stockton Beach) and Convoy for Kids.
  • The Association is a registered training organisation and has a very competent Driver Training Unit and facilities which enables Members of your Club to be trained and to train others.
  • Membership of the National Four Wheel Driving Association.
  • Regular communications of events or trends which are important to 4 Wheel drivers.
  • A website dedicated to the interests of 4 wheel drivers and one which facilitates the interaction between Clubs and 4WD Club members and therefore improves both our promotion of what we do and the communication of matters which are relevant to what we do as 4WD Clubs.
  • A national insurance scheme covering the liability of Directors and Officers of Clubs and the operation of Club trips and various activities. The scheme also offers individual tailored 4WD covers for Members vehicles.
  • A forum for Clubs and their Members to exchange information and ideas to further each Clubs objectives.
  • An opportunity for your Members to be involved in the shaping of matters important to 4 wheel drivers either through attendance at regular Association meetings or by active involvement in the management of the Association – the Association belongs to the affiliated Clubs.

In summary, the Association has been successful in pursuing the interests of 4WD Clubs in the community and in working constructively with and influencing land managers. 4WD Clubs affiliated with the Association are what makes the Association work and together have made a positive impact on the range of activities we can offer to our members.
